Weather: Sunny and mild
Finds: 123 & 112
The low Spring tides coincided with Easter weekend and very good weather this time round. The Monday especially was very mild (I was in a T-shirt).
I missed out on the lowest tide on the Saturday as I was doing a Parkrun. I'm told there were around 40 people down at Beltinge that day! There were around a dozen on the days I went along.
I wasn't overly optimistic about how many fossils I'd find as the weather had been so benign over the preceding week. That generally means that everything is smothered in sediment. However, Nick (a regular commenter in this blog and who was down for the entire weekend) told me there had been lots turning up including some exceptional finds. Sure enough, I found a lot of usable spots along the water's edge (As an aside: I'm noticing though that these spots are looking different from in the past. Not so raised, and they seem to contain more in the way of shelly, white fossils. Different bed or just my imagination?).
Thankfully these spots were productive and I also got some interesting finds, including a large Otodus tooth, a sizeable rabbit fish mouthpart (Bigger than I've ever come across before), and my second ever dogfish tooth.
The second day was more of an average day (i.e. Nothing quite as notable) but still productive. I used a sieve on both days to add to my finds. About 40 in all. Things the size of the dogfish tooth are only really possible using a sieve, and even then, are easily mistaken for flint chips.

Finds on 22nd: S. macrota x80; C. hopei x24; P. rutoti x3; O. winkleri x3; rabbit fish x1; Galeorhinus sp. x1
