Weather: Sunny and warm
Finds: 63
I thought I'd take a chance on going to Beltinge this month even though there hadn't been any storms to clear away the silt. When I arrived, I could see the tide was actually out this time (recent visits have been plagued by onshore winds that have effectively wiped out the effects of the low tide!). Good start.
Whilst I waited for the tide to expose my favourite spots opposite the Glen, I headed for the area East of the Rand (a long spit of shingle), which tends to be less affected by the silt.
It was still affected but it was workable. However, finds were few and far between. So I headed for the areas opposite the Glen. These were heavily silted up but I managed to find a 2 to 3 metre long, narrow strip of shingle that looked promising.
In fact it yielded quite a lot of finds but it was right on the margin of the sea at low tide, so I lost it in less than 15 minutes. Joy.
Considering how difficult it was to find stuff, I was surprised to find that I had actually collected 63! There was nothing particularly remarkable amongst them but it was a decent haul, and was good to get back to it after a 4 month gap.
Finds: S. striata x49 (5 complete); G. heinzelini x8; P. rutoti x2; S. teretidens x2; I. affinis x1; Eagle ray 'bar' x1.
