Weather: Sunny but cold
Number of finds: 170
Arrived late both days (about half an hour before low tide), so only had about 3 hours of collecting time in total. Perfect conditions for finding fossils – Bright and not too windy. Spent most of my time near the water’s edge, perhaps 200m East of the ‘Stream’. Found stuff at a fairly steady rate. Tried some sieving on the second day (Just a few scoops of loose material into my 1mm sieve, washed it through in the sea, and stored it in a bag for looking at later).
Finds: 117 x S.macrota (10 complete), 39 x C.hopei, 8 x P.rutoti, 2 pieces of Myliobatis (Ray) tooth (See fig. 1), a bony fish vertebrae, a bony fish tooth, a nice Notidanodon loozi (Cow shark) partial (See fig. 1), fish mouthpart - Albula Oweni - Thanks to Nick for the ID (See fig. 1) and, amongst the sieved material, my first Dogfish shark tooth – Only 2mm in size! The sieve turned up a dozen, very small fossils in all.
