I kind of expected it really. The south-east has got away with it in terms of storms this Autumn, and mostly you're looking for a bit of rough weather to scour away the silt, seaweed, and slipper shells, and expose the fossil bearing spots...or, at least that's the way I explain it to myself. It's about the 3rd time this has happened to me in all these trips to Beltinge, and it's always during these quiet times of the year.
In the end, I only found 17 usable fossils, half of those from sieving, well down on my usual numbers. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Still, at least the weather was good.
